Welcome back to the Matchside weekly roundup!
This might be the biggest couple of weeks of summer sport, with the weather to match. Wimbledon starts, the British Grand Prix roars into life at Silverstone, Henley gets going on the river, there’s a final plus World Cup cricket on top. Genuinely spoiled for choice. Plenty to get through, so keep reading for the details 😎

👀 What’s on this week 👀
Some of the events I covered in last week’s email are continuing into this week, so I’ll do a quick update on ticket availability before jumping into the new events below.
🏑 FIH Pro League Hockey at Lee Valley Hockey Centre, 13th-28th June. This weekend there’s an England double header on both days. Saturday 27th: England Women vs Spain and England Men vs Pakistan. Sunday 28th: England Women vs Argentina and England Men vs India. Tickets here.
🎾 Eastbourne Open, 20th–27th June. Still has tickets available across all remaining days, from £12.
And for the new events happening over the next week:
1. 🎾 Wimbledon (Monday 29th June to Sunday 12th July)
📍 All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club | How to get tickets
2. 🏉 Barbarians vs Wales Double Header (Saturday 27th, 2pm & 5pm)
📍 Twickenham | Tickets from £20 (only a few left!)
3. 🏉 PWR Final: Saracens vs Trailfinders Women (Sunday 28th June, 3pm)
📍 Twickenham Stoop | Tickets £15
4. 🏏 Women’s T20 World Cup (tickets)
Wednesday 24th June (6.30pm): England vs West Indies at Lord’s.
Saturday 27th June (6.30pm): England vs New Zealand at The Oval.
Tuesday 30th June (2.30pm): Semi-Final 1 at The Oval.
Thursday 2nd July (6.30pm): Semi-Final 2 at The Oval.
5. 🏏 T20 Vitality Blast: Middlesex vs Durham (Sunday 28th June, 2.30pm)
📍 Old Deer Park, Richmond | Tickets £23
This beautiful little out-ground at Richmond Cricket Club offers the chance to see first class cricket close up in a local club setting. Always a really fun day out.
6. 🚣 Henley Royal Regatta (Tuesday 30th June to Sunday 5th July)
📍 Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire | Tickets from £38
Yet another unmissable quintessential English summer event. These tickets get you access to the Regatta Enclosure, open to the general public (as opposed to members) and from where you can watch the race. Much like The Boat Race, there are plenty of spots along the river towpath that you can watch from for free.
7. 🏎️ F1 British Grand Prix (Friday 3rd July to Sunday 5th July)
📍 Silverstone | Tickets from £379 (for race day)
This one’s a bit further out but requires some forward planning. There are still a small number of tickets available across general admission and the grandstands — if you’ve always wanted to experience the British Grand Prix, why not make this the year?
